However, not all blenders are created equal. There are blenders that are just good for mixing and there are powerful ones which can turn ice into snow or smoothen out leafy greens in smoothes. With so many brands and makes, how do you choose the most powerful blender of them all?
We have good news for you, dear fellas! We have tried and tested several blenders and we’d like to share the results with you. But first, let’s take a look at what characteristics a blender should have for it to be considered powerful.
Characteristics of Power Blenders
The most powerful blender should have the following:
- At least 1,500 watts to make grinding, crushing and kneading easier.
- A sturdy base to ensure that it won’t topple over. Yes, you shouldn’t be holding it down the counter each time you grind, chop or knead.
- Variable speeds. You should have options to do tasks like chopping, kneading, grinding and crushing.
- BPA-free pitcher. Of course, when it comes to the pitcher, glass is tops. But since it’s breakable, you might as well settle with a BPA-free pitcher which is also strong and durable.

When it comes to power, trust Ninja Ultima to deliver. With 1,500 watts and 2.5 horsepower , you can throw in anything, absolutely anything inside the jar, secure the lid and let the Ninja attack. It has variable speeds that allow you to crush, grind, knead, etc. No almonds or fibrous fruits and veggies can escape its quad blade so you can enjoy really smooth smoothies. It’s dishwasher safe, ensconced in a sturdy base and has a BPA-free pitcher that can withstand the movements of the ingredients inside.
To many blender lovers, Blendtec Total Blender is synonymous to power, what with its 1,560-watt countertop blender with 3 HP direct-drive motor. It can emulsify frozen fruits, grind tough nuts, and pulverize fruit and veggie fibers. It has easy to use controls and is dishwasher safe too. It has a BPA-free pitcher and a sturdy base as well. However, it’s too powerful that it makes chopping a tad too difficult – anything you put ends up being pulverized.
With 1,400 watts, Versa Professional is powerful enough to mash kale (one of the toughest greens), turn ice into snow, grind peanuts and other nuts (almonds end up as a little chewy, though) but fail to create smooth as silk smoothies from frozen fruits. It has a sturdy base and a BPA-free pitcher that can put up with the most of the toughest ingredients. It cannot be washed in your dishwasher so you’ll have to prepare hot water and some dishwashing liquid to clean it up.
I’m a single mother who’s constantly looking for ways to make my life easier in the kitchen. I love entertaining and trying new recipes, without having to spend a lot of time on them. I spend most of my time outdoors in my garden, and with my dog Cooper. I love making healthy smoothies and fun frozen drinks at home, which is why I decided to start this page about blenders. During the long, hot summer months in Texas frozen drinks are a daily treat, and finding a way to make it easier has become a passion of mine.
